Hiring a Business Consultant and/or Business Coach is a sign of strength, not weakness. It means you want to do whatever it takes to succeed honestly and very well.
Unfortunately— more often than not, business leadership contact me in what may feel like their darkest hour. They are often scared, confused, and overwhelmed because— despite their best efforts over a long and arduous period of time, they have not yet found the right formula to scale their struggling operations. They realize that while they love their business and would do anything, and have done everything to make it work, they may no longer know how to make it work in a way their business and employees needs.
This happens gradually and over time, as incidents and evidence pile up slowly— and then it happens suddenly and all at once, as that pile becomes unbearable and overwhelming. Over time, business owners or their operators start to lose their hope as they exhaust themselves and their local options and resources. What they hoped would work is simply not working. Gradually they run out of options or ideas, and then quite suddenly they realize they are dealing with issues that is bigger than they are.
The most successful people in your field have consultants and coaches. I can guarantee that your competitors, or a business that you model has a coach or a consultant on their roster.
It’s easy to celebrate success, however when the business isn’t doing well it can be one of the most humbling of experiences. It is especially humbling when we are forced to accept that we may be unable to go on in ways and fashion we love the most about the business and the ways that previously worked well.
Hiring an Business Consultant or Business Coach is not a sign of weakness, or a sign of giving up, or a sign of being bested by a problem. It is not the end of the line— it is the beginning of a new set of solutions. It is a commitment to a process of growth and discovery and of the exploration of options which may simply not be readily apparent because you’re swimming in it.
It is the choice to engage with the support, objectivity, and creativity of a professional who can help when the business, and it’s people are faced with the obstacles, complexity or some confusion on what to do which is the cause of the struggle.
